About Me

What would you like to know about me?

Well, here I am.................

OK, I will have a picture there one day, I promise. I just have to get my kids to take one that won't frighten you away for good. Meanwhile Granny G here is pretty close!

My name is Gillian, usually called Gill. I live with my husband John, who is a veterinarian (retired now), at the south west tip of beautiful Vancouver Island, about a 40 minute drive from Victoria.

All three of our children and three grandchildren live in Victoria. I feel that we are betwixt-and-between grandparents, not near enough to pop in and out every day, but not long-distance GPs either. We are close enough to get together for all special occasions, and for Granny to baby sit when needed. Grandson Fynn loves to stay with us for the weekends. He enjoys playing with Shauri our dog and taking him down on the beach.

John and Gill

I don't have any good up-to-date pictures of the grandchildren but all three are on the website in different places. Giana was 4 when her picture was taken with her Great Grandmother, Fynn was 6, helping Gran to decorate a cake, and Connor is the baby! Can you find them?

In my "other life" I am a physiotherapist working in Home and Community Care. I enjoy that, but not the long commute - that 40 minute drive can be well over an hour at peak times. I am hoping that I will be able to retire soon and make my websites my full time business.

How? Well with SBI it is simple. SBI provides not only a website, but absolutely everything you need to build a thriving business. You can find out all about it here

Just to fill in a few parts of my long past - I'm a pre-boomer! I was born in England and sent to Canada during the war. I lived with my Canadian "Grandmother" and her family and loved them dearly.

Back in the U.K. with my parents after the war I went to school, then on to study physiotherapy. Once qualified, I came back to Canada for a visit, working in Montreal and Vancouver.

I went back to England with the intention of telling my parents that I wanted to settle in Canada, but that plan was put aside when I found a job as an "Air Hostess" (yes, that is what we were called in those days!) That was a great time. We flew all over Europe, East Africa, India, Singapore and Hong Kong as well as South America.

Air Hostess

I met John in Kenya, and we married a year later. In those days we had to retire from flying when married, but John and I kept on travelling. We lived in Kenya, then South Africa and Swaziland, where our daughter Katie was born. Back to England and finally back to Canada. Even then, we kept moving, first we lived in Nova Scotia, where Karen was born, then on the BC mainland, where Rob arrived, until we finally settled here on the Island where we have been for over 30 years.
