Fun with your GrandkidsOne of the best things about being a grandparent is that you can have fun with your grandkids, doing things you might never do on your own. You can go to the park and swing on the swings; spend a day at the beach making amazing sandcastles or dinosaurs or whales; you can go for a walk and pick a beautiful bunch of dandelions or make a daisy chain....
For one-on-one time with young children, card games work well because they are adaptable - little kids love to make up their own rules. My grandson had some interesting variations on "Go Fish" and "War". I was never sure if there really was such a game, but he loved to explain the rules to me.
Board games too, range in suitability, from pre-schoolers right on up to adults. They provide fun, especially where there are several players and even the youngest gets to win sometimes. Most children enjoy
crafts
and a Gran who can teach them to make an origami crane is a real treasure. For a rainy day, nothing beats a Dress-Up trunk full of Gran's old dresses, high heeled shoes and lots of beads and junky jewellery. Be sure to take photos! Game of the Day

Grandparents Cafe Site Make OverPlease bear with me as Grandparents Cafe has a face lift! Don't worry though! All the same great information and resources are still here, but some pages will still have the old look during this process. Thanks for your patience during this transition. |
