Egg in a Frame

Egg in a Frame

Ingredients:
1 slice of bread per child, and Grandpa.
1 egg per slice of bread.
Butter or margarine.

Instructions:
Children follow along with the preparation, then be on hand at the
stove but let them break the egg and do the frying.
Use a glass to cut a hole in the center of the slice of bread.
Butter both sides of the bread and 'hole'.
Heat a frying pan, and put the 'frame' in the frying pan.
Break the egg into the center of the frame, trying not to break
the yolk.
Put the 'hole' in the frying pan to toast both sides a bit.
When the egg is half-done flip it over.
Move the finished Egg in a Frame to a plate and put the 'hole'
over the egg.
My first cooking experience, learned from my mother 50+ years ago. I still remember how proud I was to end up with an over easy egg (on the second or third, or fourth, try). Also, first cooking experience for some of my 7 grandchildren (unless their mothers beat me to it).
